The İbrahim Bodur Library is a hub of creative learning and research supporting collaborative and individual study. The Library was renovated in 2014, respecting the great tradition of Robert College while incorporating elements of new thinking in library design. The result is a space that is both functional and beautiful, which enhances the architectural features of the historic Gould Hall. There are spaces for students to study, read, create and collaborate. The Library has wireless internet connection throughout, two networked printers, iMacs, iPads and an abundance of electrical outlets for laptops. There is a room and green screen for students to create videos, and two classrooms and two smaller collaboration rooms for group work.

As an internationally recognized and respected leader within the secondary school educational community in Turkey and beyond, we will provide the most advanced facilities, resources and services that support an appreciation for life-long learning, academic integrity and student success.

We will encourage student learning by providing information literacy instruction and research support, promoting the use of new technologies, and by fostering the love of reading in all our students. In providing access to a wide variety of information resources, we will enhance an environment of continuous learning. 

Collections

Main Collection

The Library has an extensive and varied collection of print and electronic resources that support research and reading. From our Library Webpage, the RC community can access all library materials including our print catalog, and digital collections of ebooks, ejournals, newspapers and encyclopedias. Our databases include: Overdrive for ebooks, Encyclopedia Britannica, JSTOR, EBSCO, Rosetta Stone (for languages), The New York Times, The Day, Granger’s World of Poetry, etc. The Library also subscribes to NoodleTools, a citation generator and research software. Students find this very useful for planning and organizing research. 

Rare Books and Special Collections

The Library is fortunate to have a collection of old and rare books dating back to 1587. The scope of the collection is varied and includes titles about the Ottoman Empire, the Turkish Republic, travel books about Turkey and other foreign countries, Ottoman maps, Turkish and World literature, etc.  

Services

RC Librarians assist students and collaborate with faculty for research enquiries, provide guidance in the ethical use of information and citation, offer suggestions on what to read, and help in using new technologies for research, reading, collaboration and creation, in both English and Turkish. 

Honor Code and Academic Integrity

An honor code is a set of ethical principles that guide an academic community. It is based on academic integrity, that is, honesty and responsibility in scholarship. A student with academic integrity has chosen to follow rules that guide how to do school work. The attributes of integrity are expected and valued at Robert College and practicing them prepares students for their future at university and in the workplace.

Practicing academic integrity requires students to develop essential skills including accurate and honest research, writing, and citation. Librarians and teachers introduce students to these skills, and the values and understanding of what it means to be an active, intellectual, engaged and honest student.
