The RC Modern Dance club thrilled the audience on April 26 in Suna Kıraç Hall with their show adapted from Mercan Selçuk Dance Company’s most recent show, Awakening. The theme of the show was “nature and humankind”, and dancers from the Mercan Selçuk Dance Company, as well as the RC Modern Dance club performed various choreographies highlighting the theme.
In Awakening, the performances focused on the modern places where humankind is found, the break from nature, the break from our own essence, the feelings that we started to lose, and elegance. Most of the songs were composed by RC music teacher Deniz Baysal. The evening was the culmination of months of preparation by the dancers, under the guidance of their teacher and choreographer, Mercan Selçuk.
The show started with performances from the RC Modern Dance club and continued with children and young dancers from the Mercan Selçuk Dance Company. The show finished with the two choreographies, “The Fire” and “Awakening”, which left the audience reflecting on the concepts that were performed througout the evening.
