Leyla Pamir ACG 50

Leyla Pamir passed away on October 20, 2023. She was a very talented and unique person. At an early age she started playing the piano with a Russian teacher. She married Haldun Taner in 1955. They divorced in 1968 and Leyla went to Munich and Vienna and worked on her music with teachers like Koebel and Hinterhofer. She attended the master class of Paul Badura-Skoda and graduated from the piano and piano pedagogy departments of Heidelberg State Conservatory where she remained to teach.

When she returned to Turkey, she continued in Moda and wrote on music to various journals. She published many books. She was an exceptional musicologist with a wide imagination and perspective. In 1978 when I arranged a conference for the International Society for Contemporary Literature and Theater, she invited us to her house for a piano recital. She mesmerized the foreign delegates and all who listened. May she rest in peace.
