I met Taylan Sabuncuoğlu during third grade in January 1952, the beginning of a nearly 70-year friendship. Taylan introduced me to his close friend Mustafa Şahin and we became best friends. We all passed the Robert College exam and entered in 1954. We chose the same dormitory and for the next eight years, we slept side by side. The three of us spent our summers together swimming in the Marmara and playing football on the Anatolian side of Istanbul. In the winter we would go skiing with our male and female College friends at Uludağ. Taylan graduated from RC Yüksek and worked in the family business, Hacı Şakir Soaps. He married Nur Aybay and they had two sons, Erim and Kerim. My dear Taylan, rest in peace, go bye-bye, say hi to Mustafa, see you soon. — Contributed by Şerif Egeli RA 62
