Outdoor Adventure and Environmental Office Statement of Purpose
To develop, implement and deliver a nation leading outdoor adventure program that enhances and enriches the lives of RC students through profound and transformative experiences in nature and the outdoors, whereby discovery of the natural world enhances and promotes self discovery. The program aims to give students the opportunity to discover a world beyond the city and technology by placing our learners in a setting where their minds are naturally curious and inquisitive with the hope that students develop a love and care for nature. Students will complete the program as resilient and determined independent learners ready for an ever changing world.
Atatürk Explorer Award
The Atatürk Explorer Award is a progressive multi-level award that encompasses four separate elements at each level. The four strands of the award are Nature and Conservation, Health and Fitness, Culture and Multiculturalism and culminates in an outdoor expedition where students are assessed in camp-craft, leadership, teamwork and navigation skills.
The award has also been developed around Robert College's 5 core values:
Students participating in the RC Atatürk Explorer Award will learn to take initiative and responsibility. During expeditions, students will develop resilience and optimism. Students will be expected to work collaboratively as part of a team as well as develop leadership skills throughout the program. While on expeditions or working with local communities students will always represent their school and country with pride. Throughout students’ RC Outdoor Adventure journey, they should remain curious and acquire valuable skills while practicing to become proficient across a variety of disciplines. Students will become caring global citizens who are concerned for society through their experiences within and outside of Türkiye.
