When Gönül Ayda Pultar ACG 62 learned that her friend and colleague Belma Uluman Ötüş Baskett ACG 50 would be celebrating her 90th birthday in 2021, she decided her birthday gift to the professor emerita would be a festschrift in her honor. Baskett is a renowned scholar of Turkish-American studies, with many articles and books to her name. Pultar teamed up with Louis Mazzari, formerly of Boğaziçi University. The result is the 500-page bilingual Engin Bir Ufuk Boyunca / Across a Broad Horizon, comprising seventy-two texts of varying length, from tributes and fond reminiscences, poems and short fiction, to sophisticated scholarly articles reflecting Belma’s multiple interests, written by family members, former classmates, neighbors, colleagues and students. The book was presented to her during a ceremony on September 25, 2021, at Bizim Tepe. For more information, write gonul@pultar.org
