Hakan Binbaşgil has worked at Akbank for 21 years, most recently as CEO for 12 years. In this new chapter, he becomes the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors and Executive Member. RCQ asked Binbaşgil the secrets of his success: “Adaptability, agility, and resilience are critical, so is the formation of a cohesive and skilled team capable of weathering storms together. Moreover, its emphasis on extracurricular activities allowed me to recognize the benefits of teamwork, a lesson that would later prove invaluable in my career. Most notably, RC’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence laid a strong foundation in many subjects and ignited a passion for lifelong learning.
Binbaşgil’s advice to young alumni starting their careers is to wholeheartedly embrace continuous learning: “The most significant investment one can make is in their knowledge and skill set. Listen to your heart, choose what you want to do and passionately pursue your chosen path. Make mistakes, learn, and grow from them. Don’t be afraid to take calculated risks and if setbacks occur, do not be discouraged. Engage with a variety of disciplines to broaden your knowledge and perspective. Make sure your first job provides abundant opportunities for learning. Your initial career choice can significantly influence your future growth.”
