Ayhan Bayrakdar Amal passed away peacefully on January 25, 2023. She was a loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother, true friend with extraordinary qualities including righteousness, perfectionism, integrity and empathy - framed under a delicate exterior beauty that remained with her until the end.
A much-loved member of ACG, she was praised for her academic and athletic prowess, becoming the May Queen of 1945. She attended Istanbul University, until she married Fazil Amal RC ENG 46, in 1949, and went to the US. On her return, she worked for the United Nations. Later, she was an assistant to Professor Ethel Kunkle, at ACG’s Child Study Center.
She was an ardent bridge player and played excellent tennis, winning countless trophies throughout her life.
She is survived by her daughter Serap Amal Verdi ACG 70, son-in-law Murat, son Selim Amal, daughter-in-law Fatma and grandsons Kerim and Sinan.
