Bozkurt was a remarkably kind and soft-spoken person as well as a voracious reader. After RC, he attended Boğaziçi University’s Department of International Relations. He pursued a career in banking after training in Manchester, until he retired in 2012. He continued his studies in history and made contributions to the Library of Alexandria project. Bozkurt was also a photographer, whose exhibited works won acclaim, and a translator of non-fiction texts.
Bozkurt’s wife Aynur İlyasoglu, a professor of sociology, passed away in 2019. It was only a year later that Bozkurt was diagnosed with a malignant disease. His sister Dilek, a brain surgeon, and his brother Gürsel, a professor of orthopedics, put their best efforts forward both medically and emotionally, never leaving him alone.
He was an active member of our RC 76 Whatsapp Group; we benefitted from his deep insights and knowledge. Always gracious, thoughtful, philosophical; a Stoic, if I could describe him with one word.
