Gülseren Rona Yelkenci passed away on August 7, 2022, at the age of 95. She kept her collegiate spirit throughout her life and was an avid singer of the college anthem. In her freshman year, she got engaged to Mithat Yelkenci RC 46 whom she married in 1946. They studied at the University of Pennsylvania together. She had three sons Vedat, Sedat and Nihat. She shared her alma mater with her mother Belkis Asım Rona ACG 18 and her aunt Neriman Subaşıoğlu Salman ACG 39.
Gülseren often said how her education shaped her vision and mentality. In the 1970s she was active at the Robert College Alumni Association and became the president along with her friends Nihal Pulat, Leyla Halman and Ayhan Amal.
Reading biographical novels, tennis, attending plays and meeting her classmates were her favorite interests. Ever-smiling, Gülseren will always be remembered with her kindness.
