Güner’s father Cemal Germen, an architectural engineer, had the vision to provide a good education for his daughter. She spent her most formative years as a boarding student. Being sportive and excelling in tennis brought her the Tennis Championship Cup for three consecutive years. She was outstanding with her refined culture, grace, discipline, excellent English and beautiful calligraphy. In 1953, she married Mustafa Acar, the brother of her classmates, the Acar sisters. The outcome of this happy marriage was Yasemin, born in 1955. After her school years, Güner always kept in contact with her classmates. During her 99 years, the education, culture, refinement and sportive life she acquired at ACG made her a strong-minded, modern and resilient woman. Güner Acar passed away peacefully on August 10, 2021. She is survived by her daughter Yasemin Acar Grupp, her friend Rainer Kordik, son-in-law Johannes Grupp, granddaughter Isabel Grupp and grandson Andreas Grupp. — Contributed by Yasemin Acar Grupp
