We have lost our Mehmet Fuat Alp on July 7, 2021, in Bodrum. He was Melek Hüdayioğlu Alp’s (RC 72) dear husband, Ferhat-Zeynep and Mete Alp’s dad, Peri’s grandpa, Feride Alp Walter’s (RC 71) brother and RC 72’s beloved Memet Abi. A junior basketball team player, captain of the table tennis team, the founding president of our imaginary “Tas Varsity”, the host of “Gülbaba Pansiyon”, Memet Abi was a fountain of joy. His invented stories about secret agents and his infamous “Abduction from Nişantaşı” operetta will live forever. Memet Abi was a generous host. His favorite pastime was conversation at the “rakı masası”. Music, dancing, travelling, entertainment, horse races, poker, Gitanes (no filter), rakı (undiluted) and Ballantines (3 ice cubes free floating) were must-haves. In recent years Memet “distilled” his own highly appreciated single malt “Glenmemet”. We will forever miss his sui generis sense of humor, incredible stories, fun conversation, friendship and generosity. Contributed by RC 72 Friends
