Sırma Tunalı passed away in June 2023, following a serious illness. She will be remembered for her grace and goodness, her maturity beyond her age, intellect, unwavering determination, as well as her love for poetry and theater (she was also a collaborator with dear Kadir Abi; her play is fondly remembered by her classmates. Her remarkable writing skills were recognized in Orta 1 when she received the top prize for a nation-wide composition competition organized by the Council of Europe and the Turkish Ministry of Education. She was devoted to many causes, including helping disadvantaged children. Sırma graduated from Smith College in 2004 and had a long, successful career with TSKB (The Industrial Development Bank of Turkey) where she worked on many international, regional and national development projects until her passing. She is missed dearly by her classmates and all those whose lives she touched with her piercing eyes and kind smile.
