Turhan Başarankut RC ENG 68

Turhan was born in Istanbul in 1946. His father was a civil engineer, whom he lost at the age of 2. Turhan won a scholarship at RC for Electrical Engineering. He graduated in 1968, among the brightest engineers of Turkey. His love of computers started during his masters in Computer Science at METU (1974). He worked as a senior manager in several engineering firms in Turkey and abroad. He founded TMA Engineering, delivering several projects in Europe, Middle-East and North-America. He was an outstanding engineer, an excellent analytical thinker, an icon of integrity and professionalism. He was proud to be a graduate of RC, thus upheld high standards. He loved his wife. He was very proud of his children. He adored his grandchildren. He was a swimmer who swam the Bosphorus when he was young. On a beautiful summer evening in Alanya (a location he loved the most) he died in a sea accident, two weeks after his 75th birthday.
