Uğur Tüzün RC 73

Uğur Tüzün passed away on December 18, 2021. After RC, Uğur moved to the UK where he studied chemical engineering at the University of Leeds, followed by a PhD from Cambridge. As an active teacher and researcher of particle technology, he spent much of his career at Surrey University where he became Head of Process Engineering until his early retirement in 2011.

Following his retirement, Uğur, he had begun to publish on systems engineering and sustainability. Had he lived, he would undoubtedly have contributed further in this field.

His colleagues at the University of Surrey remember him as demonstrative, scientifically argumentative, infectiously enthusiastic, always ambitious to do things no-one had attempted before and immensely good fun to be with. Among other things, he was impressively elegant at a time when that was hardly the norm for university staff. He lived well and will be remembered with affection.
