RC Makers Place 2nd with Underwater Robot

The RC Makers Underwater Robotics Team is currently in their first year but is already making waves. The team won 2nd place at the MATE ROV Regionals in Istanbul on April 27-28, a competition that included university, high school and elementary school participants.

RC Makers is RC’s first remotely operated vehicle (ROV) team. The team develops underwater ROVs and has designed their underwater robot to perform multiple tasks including inspect and repair underwater areas, install and uninstall materials and manipulate any object, as well as observe the environment. Their design is based on specifications provided by MATE (Marine Advanced Technology Education) Center, which also provided a list of challenges the robot needed to accomplish during the competition. The team members spent many hours creating an underwater robot that they feel truly proud of.
