The winners of this year’s Martı Short Story and Poetry Competition were announced on Wednesday, May 20 during an online ceremony, held in memory of former Turkish teacher Rükzan Günaysu. The theme of this year's competition was “Yes", and it was open to all students, from Prep to L12. The jury included the Turkish Language and Literature teachers as well as two seniors who are members of the Martı editorial staff.
The ceremony was led by club advisor Özgül Akgül and a L11 student who is the editor of the magazine, with the award winners reading passages from their works. Writer Hikmet Hükümenoğlu RC 89 attended as guest; he answered students’ questions on being a writer, shared his experiences, and contributed to an enjoyable environment for all the attendees.
Martı’s Short Story and Poetry Competition, held since 2005, aims to promote students’ creative writing, help them share their works with the school community and be recognized. The winners are celebrated during a ceremony that takes place each year.
