The RC Robotics team ARC 6014 received the Engineering Inspiration Award at the Bosphorus Regional Competition on March 5-7, 2019 for their efforts to widely advance appreciation for engineering, science and technology within the community. As the recipient of this award, the team qualified for the World Championship that took place in Houston, April 17-20. There the team competed against the world’s best teams, gained much experience and met with members of RC alumni family.
In addition, at this regional competition, the team captain won the Dean's List Award given to effective and dedicated student leaders, and qualified for the final rounds in Houston. As a major part of the six-week preparation process coincided with finals and the semester break, the team members sacrificed their vacations to work day and night to build their robot and to finalize their projects. Some of the projects that made an impact on their nomination for the award include Braille menus, toy boxes that they designed to introduce young children to engineering, and educational programs for teaching coding to middle school kids in Anatolia.
The students designed their entire robot themselves, using SolidWorks, and constructed the original pieces on a 3D printer.
